Smiley Culture - Heart of a rasta, mind of a punk

Nicole's gorgeous Fiorucci post got us here at Nixie to thinking about 80's fashion...you know; the Kangol beret, the grey Farah slacks, the Gabicci cardigan (with a suede trim), the Bally loafers and the camel jacket... thinking about that outfit got us to musing on the iconic British record label Fashion records; founded in 1980 as a spin off from the famous Dub Vendor record shop in Clapham Junction. The label helped propel the UK MC explosion and launched the career of one of our all time favorites, Smiley Culture.

His tragic death last year means we won't ever see his irrepressible smile again, but he, his music (and his style) won't be forgotten.

Sweet dreams Smiley...
